In general, you have the choice of right or left-handed design, pickguard / scratchplate with hundreds of color and style options, bevel style, guard mounting style, neck pocket and choice of trem cut styles. Choose to stick with a classic design or explore the possibilities with a fully custom made-to-order build.

We offer an enormous variety of different pickguard colors and styles. Options include standard pickguard materials in multi-ply and single-ply styles as well as custom materials such as mirrors, translucents, specialty colors and patterns, sparkles, and more. Many of these materials are designed to vary in pattern, color, and style, providing unique outcomes for each project. Most guard styles come with protective covering and pre-applied full-size electronics shielding sheet or tape. Some specialty guards may not have any covering or may have single or double-sided protective covering with electronics shielding sheet included separately so you can choose whether/how to apply it.

We offer pickup rout options for each slot typically available in Straight, Angled/Slant or Reverse Angled/Slant Orientation including None ~ Strat Single Coil ~ Humbucker Standard or Forward Placement with Squared or Rounded Corner Styles plus Wide Range, Deluxe/Lonestar, Mini and Lipstick Selections ~ Double Strat Single Coil in Tight & Spaced Layouts ~ Trembucker ~ Soapbar ~ Tele Bridge & Neck. Your choice of different switch styles including blade, toggle, mini, momentary and more along with the switch location that will work for you. Switch options are offered in traditional and unique locations as well as in the standard control pot field of play. Be sure to check your control cavity for compatibility with your desired style if you’re choosing something new or unique to your body type.

We can send custom guards without any holes (undrilled so you can drill control or pot holes how and where you like) or with full or mini-size control pot, blade switch, toggle switch, button holes, or mini toggle switch holes in the position(s) of your choice. We will create guard options as you select – some variability is to be expected as these are custom works and not mass produced. Not all hole placements will be compatible with all body routing and may not work with all knob sizes. 

Generally, the approximate measurements for hole sizing are as follows:

Standard Control Pot Hole: 3/8”

Standard Toggle Switch Hole: ½”

Mini Toggle Switch Hole: ¼”

Standard Button Hole: 5/8”

Mini Button Hole: ¼”

Some option placements may be too closely positioned for standard knobs or may conflict in other ways. Some body cavities or components may not be compatible with options available. You are solely responsible for your selections. We don’t judge suitability as we don’t know the nature of your build. Typically, we will not confirm with you prior to production - exercise discretion and ask any questions so you can be sure of your choices prior to purchase.

Guards are designed to work with Fender Standard 2002 & Newer US & MIM guitars. We do not guarantee the fit on any other style, year or model line. Pickguards are not designed to work with Squier, Custom, Light, any Artist-Series, Reissue, or anything else other than Standard. If you have a different model or year, contact us prior to purchase so we can make sure we have what you need.

We offer the option to add a matching trem cover to your guard so that the pickguard and cover will be cut from the same material sheet for the closest possible color match.

Consider adding new Dragonfire Pickups along with a custom Wiring Harness to your guard purchase and we’ll wire your choice of guard, pickup(s) and harness together in a prewired/loaded guard just for you!

We offer pickguard material sheets so you can create your own unique design or customize a pickguard, scratchplate, trem cover, backplate, jazz or tele plate, or any other suitable project. Check the images below see some examples of size options available, spacing possibilities and sample projects. Material sheets come in a huge variety of styles and colors and sample pieces are available if you want to check out a small piece before buying a larger sheet.

A variety of sheet sizes are available to fit your project. From 1" x 1" sample pieces to large sheets 11.5" x 23.5", you can find the size you need. We have added some sample images below so you can see some example project possibilities. If you're not sure what size you need, we're happy to help - just contact us for assistance if needed.

Take your time for production and installation. Be aware that some materials can be difficult to successfully modify and are susceptible to damage if you do not have appropriate experience or tools. 

Standard style sheets are cut from 3-ply or 4-ply pickguard materials and include a side edge/stripe layer. Unless otherwise specified, layers may vary (impacts side edging / stripe color only). 

Solid material sheets are standard thickness with no side striping or variation. 

Specialty styles are custom, non-standard material fabrications. Some specialty styles may be slightly thicker than standard guard material styles.

Allow and expect color and pattern variation due to photo and monitor settings, natural product variance, and personal perception. Gradient and saturation levels vary. Consider purchasing a sample piece to confirm project suitability or contact us for details if needed. Images provided are sample representations but will not be an exact match.
